SJE Lifetime Achievement Award
and Emerging Scholar Award
Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award of the Society of Jewish Ethics will recognize members for their creative and lasting contributions to the field of Jewish ethics. The award will recognize outstanding, sustained, and substantive contributions of the recipient that have advanced the field of Jewish ethics, taking into consideration the following factors: the quality and quantity of the recipient’s publications and the service that they have provided to the profession. The recipient’s scholarship should have influence within the field of Jewish ethics, beyond the discipline, and beyond the academy. A recipient’s excellent service might include leadership within the SJE, mentorship of junior scholars, or a commitment to teaching Jewish ethics in the academy or elsewhere.
Emerging Scholar Award
The Emerging Scholar Award of the Society of Jewish Ethics shall be given to a scholar who has received a PhD no more than 10 years earlier and whose scholarship exhibits excellence and promise within the field of Jewish ethics. Published work may include either chapters, articles, or a book. In addition, emerging scholars should be regular attendees at the annual meeting of the Society of Jewish Ethics and beginning to exhibit leadership within the SJE.
