Dear SJE friends,
We are thrilled to announce the creation of two awards that recognize the contributions and promise of our members.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is a new and prestigious honor established to recognize individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the field of Jewish Ethics. This award is designed to celebrate a career marked by exceptional achievements, relentless dedication, and a profound impact on Jewish Ethics and the SJE.
The Emerging Scholar Award is a new initiative designed to recognize and support the exceptional contributions of promising early-career scholars in Jewish Ethics. This award aims to spotlight individuals who have demonstrated outstanding potential and innovation in their research or professional work. By acknowledging their achievements and providing additional recognition, we hope to encourage and further their growth.
Award recipients will be recognized at the annual meeting of the Society of Jewish Ethics. The two awards will not be given out in the same year. At the 2025 meeting of the SJE, we will be honoring someone with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
We invite you to join us in this new tradition and to help us identify deserving candidates who have made a significant and lasting impact on the field. Nominations will open on August 15, 2024 and close on October 15, 2024. Further details on the nomination process and criteria are available on our website. The application can be found here.
The award process will be overseen by the immediate past president of the SJE. If you have any questions, please reach out to Michal Raucher at michal.raucher@rutgers.ed.
Best,
Aryeh Cohen
SJE President
